Wush Wush is a rare variety of Ethiopian origin, coming from the Wushwush region in southwestern Ethiopia – an area known for its exceptional genetic diversity and aromatic-floral coffees.
Wush Wush arrived in Colombia a few decades ago when producers and agronomists began exploring new varieties with complex and distinctive flavor profiles for the specialty coffee market . Thanks to the temperate climate and ideal altitudes in regions like Huila, Tolima, and Quindío, this variety found perfect growing conditions in Colombia.
Today, Wush Wush is also cultivated on the Finca El Sinsonte estate – at an altitude of between 1,900 and 2,200 meters above sea level . Coffees of the highest quality grow there, including Geisha Panamá, Geisha Colombia, Caturro Chiroso, Java, Pink Bourbon and Pacamara .
Growing Wush Wush is demanding and yields are low, but the results are exceptional: a sweet, fruity and elegant cup profile with a silky body and lively acidity.
