Classic chocolate, sweet fruity, or intense co-fermented. Choose the one that matches your morning.

Which espresso machine for which coffee?

All our espresso roasts work in any pressure-based extraction. Here's a quick guide for matching coffees to setups:

Portafilter
The classic. Brings out every nuance. Try Bellavista Espresso (balanced, sweet) or Sweet Apricot Blend (apricot, milk chocolate, ideal for milk drinks).
Moka / Bialetti
More body and intensity. Works especially well with Choco Bomb (chocolate, walnut, caramel) or Brasil Blend (cocoa butter, bittersweet chocolate).
Decaf
Looking for caffeine-free espresso? Our DECAF Castillo works in portafilter and moka — clean, sweet, no compromise.

Frequently Asked Questions about Espresso

Which grind size do I need for espresso?

Espresso needs a fine grind — much finer than for filter coffee. Aim for the texture of fine salt. The exact setting depends on your grinder and machine, so start fine and adjust based on extraction time: 25–30 seconds for a double shot is the standard target.

What's the difference between espresso and filter coffee?

Espresso is extracted under pressure (around 9 bar) in 25–30 seconds, producing a concentrated cup with crema. Filter coffee is brewed with slowly flowing water through a paper or permanent filter over several minutes, resulting in a clearer, lighter cup. The same green bean can be roasted for either method, but the roast profile differs.

Which coffee is best for beginners with a portafilter?

Start with a forgiving blend that handles small mistakes well. Bellavista Espresso (washed Castillo) or Brasil Blend (natural process) both have wide tolerance for grind size and dose variations. Once you dial them in, try the more nuanced co-fermented profiles like Sweet Apricot Blend.

Can I use espresso roasts in a moka pot or Bialetti?

Yes — moka pots extract under lower pressure than espresso machines, but the same coffee works. Use a medium-fine grind (slightly coarser than for portafilter) and don't tamp. Our Choco Bomb and Brasil Blend are particularly well suited for moka.

Do you offer decaffeinated espresso?

Yes. Our DECAF Castillo is a Colombian Castillo decaffeinated via the Sugar Cane EA Process (natural ethanol from sugar cane, chemical-free). Same sweetness and clean cup as our regular roasts, no caffeine. Works in portafilter and moka.
